Welcome to the Seagate’s Digital Den Blog…

Jon Van Bronkhorst

jonvb-webHi. My name is Jon van Bronkhorst, and I’m the Executive Director of Product Marketing for the retail group at Seagate Technology. I deal with the Seagate products that you find at retail places like Best Buy, Fry’s, Tiger Direct, CompUSA, Amazon and others. Anything that comes in a cardboard retail box that says Seagate on it… I am lucky enough to deal with those.

The fun part of my job is that, as a true geek, I get to help develop products that take the best of technologies and deliver them in easy to use consumer solutions.

I’ve been dealing with computers and technology products since the 1970’s. I started taking digital photographs in 1997. Worked on my first personal computer in 1978.  Got my first cell phone in 1989. Yes… I’m an early adopter!

burkscoat2-webAnd, I am David Burks…I am the Director of Product Marketing for Consumer Electronics Storage in Seagate’s Consumer Solutions Division and am responsible for marketing programs for storage products targeted to the Digital Video Recording, Gaming, Automotive and Video Surveillance markets. I am also responsible for developing strategies & programs to support sales initiatives in the distribution channel for Seagate’s storage products focused on video and multimedia storage.  My knowledge of the consumer storage and entertainment markets comes from over 15 years of developing products in the CDR, CDRW, DVD+RW, digital entertainment and digital camera product categories while at Hewlett Packard and Seagate.

I’m not sure I’m all that comfortable calling myself an “expert” in all things digital, but I know enough to be dangerous!  I can hold my own with the technical gurus but I don’t quite peg the scale a Geeky Dweeb anymore (not that there’s anything wrong with that!).

We’re excited about this Blog, and our chance to share with everyone who cares to learn and know the things that we have learned in my years in technology. The topics we will cover include practically everything digital for the home market – digital photography, organization and management of digital content, backup options – and the reasons one should backup, the latest digital gadgets and how to employ them in your every day life, and more.
