The World’s First SATA 6Gb/s Hard Drive

A new day dawns for the next generation in screaming fast PCs!  Today, Seagate announced the world’s first hard drive to support the new SATA 3.0 specification – which runs at a blazing fast 6 Gigabits per seconds.  The Barracuda XT, is a new addition to the family of Barracuda hard drives for desktop computing.  Positioned to serve the high-end, performance segment of desktop computing, Barracuda XT offers capacity coupled with high speed which will definitely appeal to performance enthusiasts in video editing, multi-media publishing and, of course, PC gaming!

Barracuda XT provides a full 2TB of storage on a 4 disc platform.  Sustained data rates at the outer diameter deliver 138 MB/second – the fastest in the 7200 RPM class. To take advantage of the new SATA 6 Gb/s interface, the Barracuda XT is equipped with a 64MB cache which provides cache efficient applications like video editing and certain PC games to achieve screaming burst rate speeds and improve overall performance.

If you happen to be looking into a new performance PC, make sure you ask for Barracuda XT if you want the latest technology for your high performance interface.
